Green Bee Construction

Case Study:

Helping a nearly two-decade-old business look and sound like the contractor they'd become

Where we started:

Matthew came to me having already built something real. Nearly two decades in business, award-winning work, and a reputation for honesty and craftsmanship. He wasn't starting out, he was stepping up. He'd refreshed his brand assets and had a clear sense of where Green Bee Construction was headed. What hadn't caught up yet was everything the outside world actually saw first: His website. It was a bit clunky and underwhelming. It definitely didn't speak to the level of work he was doing or the clients he was ready to serve.

What was happening:

When we looked at it honestly, the website wasn't just aesthetically behind. It was communicating the wrong thing. By focusing only on construction - the "what" he does - Matthew was missing the opportunity to tap into how his work really impacts people.

Matthew isn't just a contractor who builds things. He's a contractor who guides people through one of the most overwhelming, high-stakes decisions a homeowner can make.

But his old site didn't say that. It listed services. It showed some photos. It didn't speak to the fear, the uncertainty, or the deep desire underneath every renovation inquiry.

Because here's what we uncovered when we mapped out his customer: His clients aren't just hiring someone to build an addition or remodel a kitchen. They're looking to transform their space into an environment where they can thrive.

But there's a lot of baggage:
  • They don't know where to begin or who to trust
  • They're afraid of costly mistakes, delays, and being taken advantage of
  • They've heard the horror stories
  • Some of them can't even get their spouse on the same page yet
  • And underneath all of it, they hate how their home is making them feel

The surface problem is the renovation. The deeper problem is that they don't feel at home in their home.

Our key shift became:

This wasn't a construction brand. It was a transformation brand... One built on trust, clarity, and the promise that this process doesn't have to be painful.

The approach:

We didn't start with design, we started with the customer. Who is Matthew actually serving? What are they carrying when they reach out? What do they need to feel before they'll ever hit "contact us"?

From there, we built the site - messaging and design together - around a much clearer position: Not just "we build and remodel homes," but "Make your home your favorite place to be - and we'll take the overwhelm out of getting there."

What changed:

Once the direction was clear, it was incredibly easy to move forward.

ALIGNMENT:

We refined the messaging to speak directly to what Matthew's clients are actually carrying - the fear, the uncertainty, the deep desire to love their space. Every word on the site was written to meet them there first, then guide them toward the solution. Less about services; more about relief.

STRUCTURE:

We created a clear system for how the brand shows up and moves people through:
  • A voice that's warm, confident, and consistent across every page
  • A simple three-step journey that makes the process feel manageable, not overwhelming
  • A foundation built to grow with the business - not just functional for today, but scalable for what's next

VISUAL DIRECTION:

Then we brought the design in line with that clarity and with the level of work Matthew was doing. A cleaner, more elevated look. Intentional design choices that signal craftsmanship and professionalism before a single word is read. A site that matches the level that Green Bee Construction had already been operating at.

Deliverables: Full Messaging & Website Build, Business Cards to match the new website aesthetic

What's different now:

  • The website felt like an earlier version of the business
  • Visitors had to work to understand what made Green Bee different
  • The design and copy weren't doing anything to ease the fear that walks in the door with every potential client
  • The site reflects nearly two decades of earned credibility
  • The messaging speaks directly to what clients are actually feeling — and what they actually need
  • There's a clear, confident way to show up that scales with where the business is going
The website doesn't just look better, it now does the heavy lifting. It earns trust before a conversation even starts. It answers the fear before the question gets asked. And it positions Matthew exactly where he belongs... not as one of many contractors to compare, but as the guide a homeowner can finally exhale and say yes to.

This wasn't about starting over. It was about building something that finally matched what Matthew had already evolved to, making it an easy "yes" before his clients ever picked up the phone.
