Social Mia

Case Study:

Helping a growing service business move from "new" to intentional with a brand that supports them fully

Where we started:

Mia came to me a couple of years into building her business. Her service was working, demand was growing, and she knew it was time to level things up. On the surface, it looked like a typical next step: Update her branding, improve the visuals, make things feel more cohesive, polished & professional. But there was a bigger shift happening underneath. She wasn’t just growing, she was moving into a more established, elevated version of her business and her brand hadn’t caught up yet.

What was happening:

When we stepped back and looked at Mia's brand as a whole, it was clear there were some great opportunities on the surface:
  • The visuals didn’t fully reflect where the business was now
  • Messaging wasn’t clearly anchored in the client’s real experience
  • There wasn’t a strong, repeatable system for how the brand showed up
  • The brand felt more like a starting point than something built to scale

But the REAL opportunities came when we looked at things through her clients' eyes:

  • The small business owners Mia serves aren’t excited about social media
  • They’re frustrated by it
  • They don’t want to keep up with trends or learn new platforms
  • They want their time back

Our key shift became:

This wasn’t a “social media” brand... It was a relief brand.

The approach:

We didn’t start with design, we started by clarifying:
  • Who Mia and her team are really serving
  • What they’re actually experiencing
  • What they need most from her service

From there, we aligned the brand around a much clearer position. Not just “we manage your social media” but “we take this off your plate so you can get back to what you're genius at.”

What changed:

Once the direction was clear, everything else had a place to land.

ALIGNMENT:

We refined the messaging to reflect the real value of the service - Less about content, more about relief, time, and simplicity.

STRUCTURE:

We created a clearer system for how the brand shows up: Consistent tone and positioning, repeatable visual patterns, a foundation that could scale with the business

VISUAL DIRECTION:

Then we updated the visuals to match that clarity:
  • A more elevated, cohesive look
  • Design choices that felt simple, clear, and supportive
  • A brand that felt aligned with the level the business was moving into
  • ...with a bit of whimsy and personality to reflect Mia's own personal sparkle

The Result  The Result  The Result  The Result  The Result The Result

Deliverables: Full Brand & Messaging Build (logos, submarks, typography, mood & aesthetic study, color story, brand message), Identity Assets (business cards, note cards, letterhead, envelopes, email signature), Website Design & Development

What's different now:

  • The brand felt like an earlier version of the business and lacked consistency across touchpoints
  • Messaging didn’t connect to the client’s real frustration, which really limited its effectiveness
  • Everything required more interpretation and effort because overall direction wasn't clear
  • Everything reflects where Social Mia is now, as well as where the brand is going
  • The messaging connects directly to what clients actually want
  • There’s a clear, consistent way to show up across everything
The brand doesn’t just look better, it works better and does the heavy lifting it should. It supports the business instead of creating friction. It’s easier to use, easier to maintain, and easier to grow with.

This wasn’t about starting over. It was about evaluating where Social Mia has been, where it's headed, and how we could best position Mia to serve small business owners even better. Out of this alignment and clarity, we built the next iteration of her brand that reflects what her business has become, as well as supports what comes next.
