You don’t need a logo. At least not yet…
Wait, what?! Is Lyndsey TRYING to turn business away? I thought she designed logos!
Yup. No, there aren’t any typos. But it caught your attention, didn’t it? 😉
Here’s the thing. When well-meaning entrepreneurs start a business or want to rebrand their business, usually the first thing they run out to get is “a logo.”
That pretty little icon they can start slapping all over social media and their website.
I have done this. MANY TIMES.
And one of the things I’ve learned is that using a logo as a starting place for building your brand is like trying to build a house, roof first.
A roof is great. ESSENTIAL, even. But ya can’t start there. Any builder would find such a request laughable. The roof only makes sense in context of the entire structure – foundation, walls, etc.
Once you understand all the things you need to uncover before a logo will do you any good, the lightbulb moments are real!
There are many things a logo WON’T do for you, yet we put all this weight and expectation on it. I expand on this further in an IGTV / fb video I dropped recently.
